Info:
| The health quizzes listed below are found on the page number listed of Dr. Walker's 2001 book Conquer Fatigue in 30 Days. They are designed to teach you greater awareness of your health, lifestyle habits and body functions: |
The "Toxicity Quiz" (p 4 - 5) is part of Dr. Walker's health evaluation listed on the Health Coaching page. She has used this quiz for many years in her health coaching practice to gauge progress on clients who undergo the 30-Day Wellness & Detoxification Program. Page 6 of her book shows graphs of three different clients who went from initial total scores of 95 down to 16, 153 to 47 and 140 to 31 in just one month's time under her guidance. These people suffered from problems such as ulcerative colitis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, hypoglycemia, insomnia, excessive weight, anxiety and depression.
| "Extracurricular Expenditures" (p 32) came about from interviewing hundreds of people over the years who claimed they could not afford to take vitamins or eat better quality foods yet found plenty of cash in their budget for things that had a negative impact on their health such as tobacco, candy, soda pop, alcohol and $3 cups of coffee.
| "Breaking Common Habits and Addictions" (p 61) is a chart to evaluate how many ways your life is controlled by various addictions. Writing down goals is an important way to convert "wishes" into concrete actions. Dr. Walker teaches her clients that addictions steal our sense of personal power. Overcoming addictions is a way to reclaim power over our lives.
| "How is Your Intestinal Function" (p 83) became necessary because Dr. Walker discovered in client interviews that you cannot just ask questions about constipation and normal bowel function when clients have no clue what is "normal" and no doctors have ever bothered to define it. Most doctors would not even agree on how to define it. Many people think having a six-inch BM is a happy day. After asking these delicate questions on hundreds of people who are healthy and exercise regularly versus those who are chronically ill, these are Dr. Walker's conclusions.
Normal bowel function can only be assessed if your health practitioner asks you many questions about the length, diameter, consistency, color, odor, etc of your bowel movements. Some health practitioners even send your stool sample to specialized laboratories to do tests you have never even heard of to evaluate intestinal function. For more information, go to www.gsdl.com and read about CDSA 2.0 or read chapter 13, "What's Bugging You?" of Conquer Fatigue in 30 Days.
| "Testing Your Pulse" (p 92) is a very important and simple test to learn. It can give a tremendous amount of information about your health and stress level. Also, Oriental and Ayurvedic health practitioners use pulse diagnosis to determine many important facets of your health by palpating for various strengths and weaknesses in your pulse.
| "Common Signs of Hypothyroidism" (p 143) is a list of signs and symptoms of one of the most common endocrine deficiencies. It is impossible to get enough iodine in our daily diets to support optimal thyroid function. This is one of the most important reasons that Dr. Walker recommends a daily multivitamin/mineral that contains at least 150mg of iodine. Our bodies require iodine and selenium to make thyroid hormone and convert it to its active form. Supplementing with optimal nutrition can help overcome many of these signs of hypothyroidism and restore good health and vitality.
| "Symptoms of Low Adrenal Function" (p 147) is designed to make you aware of an important endocrine gland related to chronic fatigue, frequent infections, psychiatric disorders, and a lack of resilience to stress. Our adrenal glands are weakened by sugar, poor diet, chronic use of caffeine and other stimulants, lack of sleep, a stressful workaholic lifestyle and any psychological trauma. Supporting the function of the adrenal glands is essential to our physical and emotional health.
| "Sources of Hydrogenated Fats" ( p 168) is an important subject worthy of our attention. These are otherwise known as "trans fats" and are in the news constantly for their adverse effects upon our health. There is so much neurosis about eating fats these days. To clear up the confusion about fats, please read chapter 23 (Good Fats, "Bad Fats" and HORRIBLE Fats) of Dr. Walker's book, Conquer Fatigue in 30 Days, to learn why some fats are absolutely essential to our health.
